TOWARDS REALIZING THE DREAM
A quick glimpse on MIG strategic paper for 2009 - 2015
PREAMBLE
Merciful International Guild has come along way in the last six years of its operation and as we diversify and enlarge our territory and operations this Strategic Plan is founded on the Merciful International Guilds Analysis and Understanding of the main reason our people are poor.
SUMMARY
Building on the overall Goal of Preventing and Fighting Poverty and Social Exclusion, Merciful International Guild redefines its commitment to have a definite and clear contribution to the eight components of the Millennium Developments Goals (MDGs) and develop a Sustainable Human Development Strategy.
These components of the MDG’s are intertwined and relevant to one another in such a manner that all are vital particularly for the Sub-Saharan Region where all our activities are based.
This 2009 -2015 Strategic Plan outlines these components and seeks to stem the wave of Poverty and Injustice, through programmes in six Major Thematic interventions of:
v HIV/AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis
v Hunger Free Programmes
v Improved Maternal Child Health
v Sustainable Environment
v Promotion of Education System
v Gender Equality and Empowerment
OBJECTIVES
To achieve these themes Merciful International Guild envisions a world:-
v Without infections of HIV/AIDS and all people living with HIV/AIDS are accessing care and support.
v Where everyone can afford a meal once or twice a day.
v An African continent where all are treated equally irrespective of their gender and they are empowered to achieve their goals and vision.
v A continent where every newly born child will have a guarantee to celebrate their tenth birthday through an Improved Comprehensive Maternal Child Health Care.
v A Quality Ensured Environmental Sustainability
v Accelerated Access to Education as a right but not a privilege and preserve for the few.
v OVC support program that will have every orphaned and vulnerable child in
For the Implementation of this strategic plan the Merciful International Guild must commit to ensure a Community participation (as laid down in the Homepage of our website www.mercifulinternationalguild.org ) and inclusiveness in its programme so that they can own-up the vision and therefore drive the necessary changes that are required.
For this strategic plan to be affective, its implementation will call for a strong organization policies and practices. To these effect Merciful International Guild needs a determined and dedicated workforce that is working in an Enabling Environment with an Effective, Functional and Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation system in places which will have to be broader framework of Quality Assurance in donor funding handling, comprehensive planning systems and implementations.
This will effectively enable Merciful International Guild to raise funds over the strategic plan period so as to be able to accomplish the themes of the strategic plan.
The pillar of this strategic plan is the Maintenance of Funding Partners through out the set time.
The MDGs are: MDG1 “Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger”; MDG2 “Achieve universal primary education”; MDG3 “Promote gender equality and empower women”; MDG4 “Reduce child mortality”; MDG5 “Improve maternal health”; MDG6 “Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases”; MDG7 “Ensure environmental sustainability”; MDG8 “Develop a global partnership for development”.

ACHIEVEMENTS TO DATE
Partnered with Word Impact Network since 2007, on training 63 Self Help Groups Leaders on different business skills field like:-
v Improving cooperative business organization
v Management & farming skills
v Water safety
v Embroidery and Beauty skills,
v Bee keeping,
v Dangers of HIV/AIDS.
Ø Fed 753 Internally Displaced people during post election violence at our office compounds
Ø Have distributed Food, Clothes Mattresses to Disabled, People Living with HIV / AIDS, Orphans etc
Ø The organization with funding from National Aids Control Council has also trained:-
v 10 peer educators,
v 67 Community Based Organizations on Prevention of Mother to child transmission of HIV to in turn train their groups,
v 800 couples on HIV/AIDS awareness issues (PMTCT) In all Targeting 7000 people in order to have a new free HIV generation
Ø The organization with funding from the ILO/CoopAfrica will run to train an average of 250 cooperative society’s leaders from five provinces in our premises here at Njabini.
Ø We are also expecting our International Partners in the month of January where we planning to set up a youth friendly cyber café the first of its type in the country.

The Merciful International Organization is a Non-Governmental Organization registered on the 18th December 2003 under section of NGOS Coordination with a goal of creating societies where women and children, youth and old are all valued equally, appreciated, respected and universally provided for in areas of health, social development, their human rights respected and empowering the disadvantaged persons to address the regional and social disparities of poverty reduction initiatives targeting populations and geographical areas that are out of reach.

Main Objective
To support the creation of appropriate space and opportunity for all people to participate effectively in poverty reduction programme and sustainable human development by putting disadvantaged at the centre of development.
Specific Objectives
a) The overarching objective of this organization is poverty reduction in the context of sustainable human development including the millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and other international agreed targets
b) To raise, mobilize and disburse funds and other resources for the promotion of Health Care, Education, Sustainable Environment, Gender Equality and Empowerment.
c) To enter into arrangement with any government, authority or agencies that may seem conducive to the organization’s objects or any of them, and to obtain from such government, authorities or agencies any rights, privileges and concessions which the organization may think desirable to obtain.
